2020 Paid Summer Intern - User Experience (UX) Research
The Digital Strategy department has an opportunity for a User Experience Research Intern to work under the supervision of experienced staff and effectively support cross-functional teams and customers in collaborative UX research activities dealing with complex applications and challenges. The intern will work on or be exposed to the following:
Meet with stakeholders to understand study objectives
For discount usability studies, design appropriate protocols with controls for experimental conditions
Prepare research study plans & moderator guides
Screen and schedule participants
Observe user behaviors with note taking
Report topline summaries after each day of testing
Calculate descriptive and inferential statistics drawn from small sample sizes (confidence intervals for times on task, completion rates, error rates, subjective measures)
Analyze patterns among user behaviors
Report on usability studies, particularly executive summaries
Read-out study reports with illustrations, video clips, screengrabs, and other evidence to support claims
Make actionable recommendations to stakeholders, designers, and developers
Discuss directed readings with note taking and reaction papers of industry literature to support learning and work objectives
Undergraduate currently enrolled in a program for HCI, Behavioral or Social Science, particularly Psychology with emphasis in HF/E, UX or demonstrated interest in same
Must be detail oriented, focused on delivering high quality deliverables, have a passion for the field of user research, and possess customer empathy with a drive to create outstanding customer experiences.
Experience with usability testing or naturalistic observation of human behavior in field study
Experience with descriptive and inferential statistics (e.g.: confidence intervals, t-tests, hypothesis testing)
Evidence such as a portfolio of previous user research if any would be preferable
Passionate about studying the needs of users and making them central to digital and service experiences
Analytical with ability to analyze and simplify complex user problems
Excellent verbal and written communication, must be able to present with confidence, clarity, and compassion
Ability to prioritize and manage competing demands in a timely manner
