Zions is seeking an experienced risk management professional with a background in internal controls to manage its operational control oversight program. The Risk Identification and Measurement team within Operational Risk Management oversees bank-wide programs to help senior management in identifying, assessing, and monitoring key risks and related controls. Working in Operational Risk Management is a unique opportunity and establishes a great foundation for a banking career, as risk officers are exposed to the broad scope of the bank and its operations.


Responsibilities:


The Risk Officer oversees the Control Oversight program, including developing and maintaining control standards and guidance, administering testing processes in the GRC tool, and consulting management on control design and documentation. The Risk Officer also provides support to other ORM programs and helps provide the leadership, analysis skills, and innovative thinking necessary to enhance and carry out Zions Bancorporation’s Risk Management Framework. 


Responsibilities include those listed below.

  • Assist in the design of effective key controls to mitigate risks.
  • Partner with the SOX group in coordinating control oversight initiatives.
  • Administers risk assessment and control testing programs in a governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) tool.
  • Develops and provides training for risk and internal control programs to stakeholders across the company.
  • Develops risk reporting for senior and executive management.
  • Analyzes risk and control data to provide insights to management and other risk stakeholders.
  • Works with business line management to identify measures to help mitigate risk.
  • Identifies and assesses key risks (e.g. operational, financial reporting, etc.) and related controls.
  • Develop operational risk policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Makes recommendations, develops, and implements other operational risk management initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.


The environment is dynamic, as risk analysts frequently evaluate different bank processes (on both micro and macro levels) and work with management (including executive management) throughout the entire Bancorporation.

  • Bachelor’s or Master's in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics or a related field.
  • 6+ years of audit, risk management, compliance, financial services or other directly related experience. 
  • A combination of education and experience may meet qualifications.
  • CPA Preferred
  • Expert Knowledge of Microsoft applications and other database, analysis, and reporting tools. 
  • Extensive knowledge of risk and control assessment techniques and concepts, and accounting principles. 
  • Extensive knowledge of various bank and government regulatory requirements.
  • Must have excellent presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to effectively work on a team and with others in various leadership positions.
  • Advanced interpersonal, problem resolution, analytical and modeling skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
